Winter 2016 Newsletter

We are off to a great start and moving through the year. Take a look at all that we have going on!

FUNDRAISER WITH AL CARBON: Tuesday, February 9th.  Al Carbon in the Woodbrook Shopping Center will give 10% of their profits ALL DAY to the Woodbrook PTO! Mark your calendar, tell your friends and neighbors and have lunch or dinner at Al Carbon! Noon until 9pm.

SWEETHEART DANCEFriday, February 12th at 6:30pmin the Gym. More info coming soon about this fun event for the whole family!

BINGO NIGHTFriday, February 26th at 6:30pm in the Cafeteria. We’re adding pizza to the concessions this year so you can have dinner at the event, and we’re also adding a few raffle prizes. So even if you don’t win a bingo game, you could still win a raffle prize!

The PTO’s largest event of the year, both in terms of money brought in and volunteers needed, is the Annual Woodbrook Fun Fair & Silent Auction this spring. However, we are desperately in need of a Fun Fair coordinator(s) this year to help organize and plan for the Event. Many of you indicated you would like to help with the Fair and/or the Auction, but we need a lead event coordinator. Several parents have already offered to work on Games and sending Auction donation request letters to businesses, so you will not be alone in planning! Please contact Sara Henry [email protected] ASAP if you are willing to lead a team to make this year’s Fun Fair the best ever!

KROGER CARDS: Link your Kroger card to Woodbrook PTO now! Instructions are on our website. With only 25 families linked, we made $689.00 in just 3 months. If we had 100 people link their Kroger card every school year, we could eliminate the catalog fundraiser next year!!!

BOX TOPS: A new box top contest will be starting soon! Please ask your relatives and neighbors to start saving them too. Find them on Kleenex, General Mills, Land O’ Lakes, Nature Valley, Annie’s and more:

AMAZON SMILE: You can donate money to Woodbrook Elementary PTO every time you shop on Amazon! Start today here:

DIRECT DONATIONS: Woodbrook PTO is a 501(c)3 non-profit, so direct donations are tax-deductible. Currently we accept checks (Woodbrook PTO), and we’re working on a Paypal account to allow donations by credit/debit.

PTO WEBSITE You can also link to us from the Woodbrook School website:

PTO FACEBOOK PAGE: Search for “Woodbrook PTO” and ask to join!

FLYERS (like this one!): we’re trying to move away from so much paper, but we still want to make sure we’re reaching everyone and paper helps us do that.

MEETINGS: Our next meeting is Tuesday, February 16th at 6:30pm in the Library. We will be discussing a possible opportunity for students from Albemarle High School’s MESA (Math, Engineering and Science Academy) to work with Woodbrook students to design and build musical playground equipment for Woodbrook. Free childcare is provided by AHS Key Club students; please join us!

And one final thing.  If you have read this, in it’s entirety, please let me know and send me a quick email, letting me know you read it and where you came to the PTO site from (you have it bookmarked and check it now and then, you were linked from FB, you saw the URL and decided to give it a go).  It is hard to see who is getting this info out there, in the ether.  Thanks!  The PTO Web Team
