March 14, 2017

Treasurers Report
Fall box tops campaign of $423.10 added; Spring campaign net was $344.70.

Boy Scouts have mistakenly linked their account to PTO.  Maureen in the process of fixing this.

PTO support for Clubs seen in this month’s budget.  To accommodate this, funds pulled from assemblies and teacher appreciation line items.

Maker room requests will be made soon.

ACAC membership drive ran by Sara Henry last year.  Ellen to reach out.

Treasurers report approved.

Communications Report

Email blast was great.  Teachers included.

April Highlights: Fun Fair, Teacher Appreciation

Events Since Last Meeting
Movie Night – Packed and sold a lot of concessions.
Box Tops – Spring campaign complete. Top three classes being rewarded.

Restaurant Night at Al Carbon – March 15.
Maker Night – March 24

Fun Fair and Silent Auction – April 29.  Malva wants event chairs to start meeting and coordinating. Needs to get into Google Drive.

— Volunteer opportunities –Sorority from MLK Day. Key Club, UVA Health (?)

— Teacher raffles going out on 20th.

— Idea to give raffle ticket to each person that donates a raffle item. Deadline is March 30.

— Do we want to do Game Day for Wheel of Woodbrook? Lisa will consider options for last full day of school, June 8.

– Dunking booth and pie in the face popular station. Lorrie to ask parent council if a booth is available.

– Kate needs help with following up on letters for silent auction. Contact her to volunteer.

Fundraising Policy/ Guidelines
– Agreement that for-profit companies should not be allowed on school grounds during PTO fundraising events. Maureen, Meghan and Beth will clarify guidelines for student-led fundraisers and vendor policies (such as food trucks).

Principal Report
Focus Groups coming for teachers and students

California trip was very educational and influential for Woodbrook space design.

Encouraged to visit Design 39 site to learn more about open classroom/ multi-age design:
After March 23 meeting with Pam Moran, will start developing community communications plan.

Other Items of Business

Discussion of time Capsule for new part of the building. Will revisit at later date.
